Christmas Social CANCELLED

Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Christmas get-together on Tuesday 10th December.

However, the talk by Ryan Greaves will still take place some time in the new year. Ryan will be in touch with a new date and venue when it has been re-arranged.

Date: Tuesday 10th December 2013
Time: Talk starts at 7.45pm
Venue: George Hotel Pub, Henfield BN5 9BD. Upstairs function room.

Please come along and join us for a merry old time! It's a great opportunity to meet other members, discuss your bat experiences, find out what the group has planned and celebrate the festive season.

Bat group events co-ordinator Ryan will be putting on a short presentation about a six-week surveying expedition he had to the Yucatan Peninsula, in South-East Mexico this past summer. So if you want to see photos and hear tales of some quite incredible bats, monkeys, birds, reptiles, amphibians, monkeys, creepy crawlies and Mayan culture, we'll see you there!

Talk by Matthew Dodds of North Bucks Bat Group

'Developing a bat monitoring methodology for woodland using bat boxes: 10 years at Finemere Wood'
Friday 26th April. 8pm start.
Inn on the Green, Scaynes Hill, West Sussex RH17 7NE
Matt is from the North Bucks bat group, where they have been monitoring bat boxes erected at various locations across Buckinghamshire since 2003. The data they've collected has been extremely valuable in evaluating roosting preferences of the different species present in Bucks and has helped initiate several other interesting studies. He will we discussing their findings, specifically relating to the work they've done at the Wildlife Trust reserve Finemere Wood. We hope you can come along and enjoy this fascinating talk.

'Bats from Thailand to Trinidad, and a little closer to home' by Daniel Hargreaves
Castle Inn, Bramber. Starts at 7.45pm.
We are very lucky to be holding this talk by Daniel, recent winner of the BCT Vincent Weir Award. He will be discussing his bat work in both Thailand and Trinidad, as well as the work he's doing with his local conservation group in Somerset. He will be returning from Trinidad the week before the talk, so should have some very fresh information to present.
